Crewe boss Steve Davis remains on the lookout for an experienced target-man despite talent emerging from within the club.
England Under-18 forward pair Nick Powell and Max Clayton were on target as Alex came from a goal down to beat high-flying Morecambe at the Globe Arena.
Nevertheless Davis, who last week listed securing a seasoned striker as his main priority before the emergency loan window closes on Thursday, is sticking to his guns.
"Whatever happened (at the weekend) I was still determined to get someone in up front," he told The Sentinel. "That hasn't changed and I will keep pushing for that."
Powell and Clayton scored their second goals for the Railwaymen against Jim Bentley's side and Davis did reserve praise for the 17-year-old duo.
"Nick is a huge talent who can carve defences open and Max was also a threat getting in behind with his touch and pace," he added.
