Ashley Westwood has vowed to repay Crewe boss Steve Davis after he was the subject of an unwelcome coincidence on Saturday.
Alex were 1-0 up in Davis' first game at the helm against Colchester in the FA Cup before Westwood received a straight red card for a two-footed lunge on Ben Coker. It was the second time he has marked Davis' first day in the job with a sending off, having also received his marching orders in the 46-year-old's maiden game in charge of Nantwich.
"I hoped no one remembered that," he said. "That was different, that was two bookings. It's just one of those things, but I owe him big style."
Westwood admitted he has yet to watch his video nasty and is certainly not relishing three games on the sidelines.
"I haven't seen the tackle yet," he added. "I don't want to look at it. It's just one of those things where you've just got to learn from it.
"Saturday was terrible - I couldn't watch the boys. I got sent off we were 1-0 up then the score goes how it did. I was sitting in the tunnel and I didn't know what to do. Watching from the touchline when the boys are playing well - I just want to be out there.
