Pearson loan deal cancelled

Burton manager Paul Peschisolido has revealed that he had to pull striker Greg Pearson out of a loan deal last week.

Pearson, fit again after suffering a toe fracture during the opening week of the season, was set to join another League Two club in order to regain his match fitness. However, injuries to top scorer Justin Richards and young striker Adi Yussuf left Peschisolido short in attack and the Canadian was forced to pull the plug on the move. Richards faces another three weeks on the sidelines after being sent to see a specialist because of a back problem, while Yussuf could be out for eight weeks with an ankle ligament injury sustained in training. Pearson, 26, came on as a substitute for the final 12 minutes of the 1-0 home win over Macclesfield on Saturday, having previously played just 11 minutes this season. "We'd been looking to get Greg out on loan and plenty of teams wanted him, but he's been itching to get back in the team and we had to change our minds because of the injuries to Adi and Justin," Peschisolido told the Burton Mail.
