Gills hammer Hereford; Morecambe flying high; Gulls share points

Gillingham smashed six past hapless Hereford on their travels as Morecambe continued their impressive start with success away to Dagenham & Redbridge. Rotherham and Torquay shared the points in a six-goal thriller at Plainmoor, Shrewsbury edged out Port Vale by the odd goal in five and Wimbledon fired four past Cheltenham. Crawley enjoyed a 3-1 home success against Bradford, Plymouth's season of misery shows no sign of improving as they lost 2-0 to Southend and Bristol Rovers were undone at home by Aldershot. The most eye-catching result of the day came from Hereford's home drubbing at the hands of Gillingham, with five different scorers on target for the visitors, on top of an own goal from the hapless Joe Heath. Stewart Drummond and Danny Carlton helped Morecambe continue their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 success away to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Final say

Torquay and Rotherham went toe-to-toe at Plainmoor, with five goals coming before the break before Rene Howe had the final say on the scoring front in the 47th minute of a 3-3 thriller. Gareth Ainsworth scored what proved to be the winner for Port Vale from their trip to Shrewsbury, with Ben Williamson's brace in vain for the home side. Wimbledon enjoyed a 4-1 home romp against Cheltenham with two goals in either half putting the home side well in control before the visitors grabbed a last-gasp consolation. Tyrone Barnett scored twice for Crawley and Andy Drury was also on target as last season's Blue Square Premier winners recorded a 3-1 home victory over struggling Bradford. Plymouth's downward spiral continues as they were beaten 2-0 away to Southend with Liam Dickinson and Peter Gilbert on target while Carl Fletcher saw red for the visitors.
Rodman downs Rovers
Alex Rodman scored the only goal of the game for Aldershot as they secured a three-point haul from their trip to Bristol Rovers. Crewe found the net twice in the opening 14 minutes through AJ Leitch-Smith and Byron Moore to record a 2-0 success away to Accrington Stanley. Simon Heslop and Liam Davis found the net in the space of six first-half minutes to enable Oxford to defeat Barnet 2-0 at Underhill, where Jake Wright saw red late on for the visitors. Burton Albion enjoyed a 2-0 success over Swindon with Jacques Maghoma and Billy Kee findin the target for the hosts. Macclesfield struck twice in the closing stages to defeat Northampton 3-1 with Ben Tomlinson and Colin Daniel the men on target.
