Gradi hails Phillips after win

Crewe manager Dario Gradi praised goalkeeper Steve Phillips as his side claimed a 3-1 home win over Barnet on Saturday.

Goals either side of the break from Luke Murphy and Shaun Miller put Crewe in the driving seat in the League Two clash at Gresty Road before Izale McLeod pounced to threaten a comeback. But Adam Dugdale tapped in a late third for Crewe to ensure they stretched their winning run to three games. "We've got to thank our goalkeeper who made one or two good saves to keep us in it," Gradi said. "We were the better side in the first half and then they took the game over in the second. "But we stuck with it and the third goal at the end was the vital one. "I think Dugdale was probably worrying what I was thinking when he went that far forward. I didn't really want him doing it but the opportunity opened itself up to him and he judged it right since he didn't give the ball away and managed to score."
