Dario Gradi was in self-critical mood after Crewe's 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury sentenced them to a fifth successive defeat.
Sean McAllister headed the Shrews in front and, after Alexandra hit the post twice, Nicky Wroe sealed the win in the final minute. To make matters worse for Crewe, Nick Powell was sent off for violent conduct.
"At the end, half the fans were clapping and half wanted a change in the manager," said Gradi.
"I'm the same. Half of me wants to clap, and the other half thinks there ought to be a change of manager because we go on losing - but we have to stick together.
"We were chasing the ball early on. Then we got back into the game in the second half, but the sending off didn't help."
