Crewe boss Dario Gradi has praised the attitude of Steve Phillips and believes the fans are set to see the best of him.
The 33-year-old found himself number two to on-loan keeper Rhys Taylor last term after returning from injury in a frustrating campaign.
"He's not stopped working and in his own words he's first here and last away," Gradi told the Crewe Chronicle.
"He's really working very hard so all credit to him - he's giving it a real good go.
"Steve has looked magnificent in training, he made some great saves the other day from Nick (Powell) right in the top corner."
