Adam Dugdale is keen to wrap up a new contract at Crewe Alexandra following his match-winning contribution in Saturday's derby against Port Vale.
The defender is enjoying his second stint at Gresty Road, but his current short-term contract expires this month.
Crewe boss Dario Gradi is set to reward the 23-year-old with an extension after Dugdale came off the bench to score his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win over Vale.
"My deal is up this week, but I love this club," said Dugdale. "It's a brilliant place.
"I want to get the contract sorted. I was only given a six-month deal in the summer and have been working my socks off every day to try and earn a new one.
"It's unbelievable to have scored the winner. I was just sat there minding my own business on the bench.
"Then David Artell went down injured and I was on. It's great to win a game of such importance for the fans."
