Crewe defender Matt Tootle has resumed training and could put himself in contention to face Bury at the weekend.
The right-back has missed league matches against Lincoln and Stevenage with a hamstring strain sustained during the Carling Cup defeat to Ipswich.
Alex boss Dario Gradi will give Tootle the remainder of the week to prove his fitness.
He told the club's official website: "Matt is back in training and he has all week to convince us that he is ready. He has only missed a couple of weeks, so he hasn't lost out too much on his fitness.
"He will have to show us that he is ready but it is a bonus to have him back training with us."
