Port Vale boss Martin Foyle has started his planning for next season by signing three new players.

Former Crewe Alexandra defender Richard Walker, former Mansfield Town man Jason Talbot and Darlington striker Akpo Sodje have all committed themselves to the Potteries club.

Centre back Walker (pictured) makes the move to Vale Park after coming through the youth ranks at Gresty Road, while former loan man Talbot returns to Vale after being released by The Stags earlier this month.

Former Huddersfield Town hit-man Sodje leaves The Quakers to step back up to League One football with The Valiants, as Foyle looks to inject some pace to his attack next season.

The news comes as Foyle informed Craig James that he was to be released by Vale after becoming surplus to requirements.

He joins Jonny Brain, Steve Rowland and Hector Sam in leaving the club this summer.
