Dario Gradi has convinced Michael Boulding to sign a contract at Crewe Alexandra.

The former Aston Villa trainee has been training with The Railwaymen in pre-season and was offered a one-year deal.

Boulding has taken his time to accept the terms as he was concerned he would only play a bit-part role with the Championship club.

But Crewe boss Gradi has confirmed the forward has now given the thumbs up to a move to Gresty Road for next season.

"Michael has said he would like to sign the contract which is good," said Gradi.

The Alex manager is also spending the weekend in talks with Chris Day, who is currently on trial at the club.

The goalkeeper played in Friday's 4-1 friendly victory over Oldham Athletic and Gradi has been impressed by Day.

He added: "We will give it some consideration and we have got another one in next week as well.

"We will chat about it now and over the weekend and then we will see where we go from there."
