Sorry Millers lose again

Match report to follow...

Rotherham remain entrenched at the bottom of the Championship after a 3-2 loss at home to Crewe Alexandra.

The game at Millmoor was a six-pointer even though the season is just over a month old as Crewe were second from bottom before kick-off.

The Millers started brightly and went ahead when on loan striker Mark Burchill headed home a Chris Sedgwick cross.

The home side's joy was short-lived as Crewe levelled matters just 60 seconds later.

Shaun Barker was adjudged to have brought down Kenny Lunt and Dean Ashton (pictured) stepped up to slot home from 12-yards.

Burchill's evening was then brought to an end as he limped off and Rotherham lost their main attacking option.

Lunt, who won the penalty, then added the second as he fired home after being put through by Mark Roberts.

The win was sealed with 19 minutes left when Ashton's class again shone through as he raced on to David Vaughan's long ball before lobbing Mike Pollitt in the home goal.

Barker gave Rotherham some hope with a goal three minutes from time, but it was too little too late for Ronnie Moore's side.
