Crewe Alexandra defender Adie Moses faces several weeks on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury.

Moses was hurt during Crewe's Carling Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Sunderland on Tuesday and was forced off midway through the second half.

The 29-year-old has been plagued by injury problems since he joined The Railwaymen from Huddersfield Town over a year ago.

He will now be facing a race against time to be fit for Crewe's mouth-watering third round Carling Cup clash against Manchester United.

"Adie's injury looks serious because at the moment we think he has sustained a calf tear," Crewe's assistant manager Neil Baker told the club's official website.

"I think that could mean a few weeks out."
