CREWE ace Chris McCready has won a one-year extension to his current contract.

The 21-year-old defender has impressed this season as cover for Stephen Foster and Dave Walton.

Alex boss Dario Gradi feels the versatile performer has earned his new deal which will keep him at Gresty Road until the summer of 2004.

"Chris has done well in the games and has shown he can play in the first team," Gradi told the club's official website.

"We haven't lost any points because he has played and he has done well. He just needs to become a bit more dominant."
