NIGERIAN defender Efe Sodje insists he is happy to remain at Crewe Alexandra following his World Cup adventure.

The pacey African, who can play at right back or centre half, had been linked with a move to Spanish outfit Numancia.

Following The Railwaymen's relegation from Division One, Sodje could have used the World Cup as a shop window for securing a move to pastures new.

But Sodje is determined to stay at Gresty Road and help the club achieve promotion from the Second Division at the first attempt.

"The World Cup was great while it lasted but now it is back to business with Crewe," he told the club's official website.

"We were all disappointed to be relegated and are aiming to bounce straight back."

Sodje has made 80 appearances for Crewe since joining on a free transfer in the summer of 2000 and has two years remaining on his present contract.
