Experienced defender impresses during pre-season trial

Millwall have signed defender Danny Shittu on a one-year contract after a successful pre-season trial. The 31-year-old Nigeria international was a free agent having been released by Queens Park Rangers. Shittu, who played 10 times for the Lions on a short-term deal during the 2010-11 season, will add experience to a squad lacking cover in central defence. Darren Ward and Karleigh Osborne are Millwall's sole options at centre-back with skipper Paul Robinson and Tam Mkandwire on the injury list. Making way for Shittu on the Lions' payroll is defender Scott Barron who will sign for Brentford once he passes a medical. Barron will team-up with former Den colleague and fellow defender Tony Craig, who joined the Bees last month.
