Transfer-listed duo McDonald and McManus could stay at Boro

Middlesbrough have revealed they are yet to receive any offers for Scott McDonald and Stephen McManus. The transfer-listed duo are two of the club's highest earners having both joined from Celtic in 2010. After failing to win promotion back to the Premier League during the last three seasons, Boro are looking to cut their wage bill before the financial fair-play rules come into effect. And with the Championship club having yet to receive any enquiries for the pair, manager Tony Mowbray expects them to prepare for the prospect of starting the new campaign with the Teessiders. "There have been no phone calls for either of them," the Boro boss told the Evening Gazette. "I fully expect all the players to come in, get their heads down and work hard to try to get in my plans for the season.

Impact

"Players on large salaries here now - just as players on large salaries who were here last year - you get on with them, it's your job. "You hope they are good enough to impact on the team and make a difference and we hope that's the case this year." McManus had a brief spell on loan at Bristol City last season but the 29-year-old centre-half made a total of 20 league starts for Boro. The Scotland international has another year on his contract. McDonald, 28, finished with nine goals from 33 league games last season and the Australian striker is under contract to 2014.
