Striker not keen on move to Middle East

Sky Sports understands that Middlesbrough striker Scott McDonald has turned down another approach to move to Saudi Arabia. Al-Hilal had shown an interest in the Australian but their approach was rejected towards the end of the season. Since then Jeddah-based Al-Ittihad have expressed an interest, and Boro will not stand in his way. The 28-year-old is understood to the highest earner at The Riverside and Boro boss Tony Mowbray would like to utilise his wages to bolster his squad in other ways. However, Sky Sports understands that McDonald has now rebuffed Al-Ittihad's advances as he is not keen on a switch to Saudi Arabia. McDonald is attracting interest across the Middle East as he is classed as an Asian player with Australian switching confederations in 2006. Boro remain keen to move him on but the former Celtic man still has two years left on his current deal at The Riverside so is only likely to move if a deal sufficiently appeals to him.
