Gills boss expecting big things from loan star

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson is delighted to have secured a deal for Josh Wright. The 19-year-old joined the League Two outfit on loan from Charlton on Tuesday as he looks to build valuable first-team experience. He arrives with a glowing reputation and Stimson is confident the youngster will prove to be a useful weapon in the Gills' promotion bid. "Josh is a good footballer," he said. "I coached him at my soccer school when he was eight so I've known him for a very long time. "He's been unfortunate not to get a run in the team at Charlton and he'll give us composure on the ball. "He's a thinker and has a good range of passing, in the mould of (fellow midfielder) Kevin Maher." Meanwhile, Stimson has allowed striker Andy Pugh to return to Grays on loan for the rest of the season - and promised him a new contract in the summer. Stimson has also allowed youth-team midfielder Luke Rooney to move to already-relegated Blue Square Premier side Lewes on work experience.
