A host of clubs including Newcastle, Wolves and Doncaster are understood to be watching Harrogate Town goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.

The 20-year-old, who was instrumental in Town's run to the FA Cup third round, has been earning regular plaudits while playing for his hometown club in the Conference North. Clubs from the Premier League down to League Two are taking a close look at the impressive youngster, who joined Town after a year at Stalybridge Celtic. MacGillivray has also previously spent time training with Leeds United. Newcastle United, Wolves and Doncaster Rovers are among the clubs understood to have checked on his progress in recent weeks. Harrogate Town youth development officer Garry Plant told Sky Sports that they had not yet received any official offers. "We have not had a formal approach from any club," Plant told Sky Sports. "We have obviously heard about clubs watching him and being interested but we have heard nothing officially." Plant admitted that he believes Harrogate Town have a star of the future in their hands. "He is very, very good," Plant said. "I think he is the next Joe Hart."
