Coppinger set for Donny stay

Midfielder James Coppinger expects to begin the new season with Doncaster in League One.

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell enquired over Coppinger's availability at the end of last season but the 31-year-old insists no further approaches have been made since Rovers' relegation. "I haven't heard anything but you never know what is going to happen in football. But I would think the odds at the moment are on me still being here next season," Coppinger told the Sheffield Star. "It certainly wouldn't bother me if I stayed here and helped try and get the club back into the Championship. "But at this stage no-one knows who is going to be here at the start of the season so it is hard to say how we will do. "I'm sure that whoever is here they will be trying to do their best for the fans who stuck by us last season even though we didn't win many games."
