Latics cool duo new deals talk

Oldham have rejected claims Shefki Kuqi and Dean Furman have signed new deals with the club.

Reports on Thursday stated Latics have taken up options to extend the stays of captain Furman and top-scorer Kuqi until the end of the 2012/13 season, although it is understood these reports are wide of the mark and no new contracts have been signed by any player for next term at this stage. Last week, boss Paul Dickov confirmed Oldham do have options on Furman and Kuqi and that talks are imminent. "We've got the likes of Shefki and Dean, who we've got options on, and there's quite a few of the players who, although they're out of contract, the club has got the options on them. "We want to keep all our better players, the players know that, and hopefully we can put something to them that makes them want to sign next year. In the next few weeks we'll be sitting down and sorting out what can and can't be done." Meanwhile, local media reports claim midfielder Chris Taylor is set to leave Boundary Park on a free transfer in the summer after talks with the club broke down on two separate occasions.
