Teenage striker lands new two-and-a-half year contract

Middlesbrough have handed Curtis Main a new two-and-a-half year contract as they bid to turn him into a first-team performer. The 19-year-old striker joined the Riverside outfit on a one-year contract last summer after leaving Darlington. He will now stay at the club until the summer of 2014 and manager Tony Mowbray is looking for the teenager to push on after being on the bench for several first team games. The Boro boss told the club's official website: "If I compare him to other lads at a similar age level to him who we already have here, he looks physically ready. "He's a powerful lad and what we will try to do is mould him into a first team player over the next couple of years."
