Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the triple signing of Damien Plessis, Mamadou Bagayoko and Habib Bamogo until the end of the season.

Saunders delighted to add Champions League experience to his squad

Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the triple signing of Damien Plessis, Mamadou Bagayoko and Habib Bamogo until the end of the season. Skysports.com revealed earlier this week that former Liverpool midfielder Plessis was due to join on loan from Panathinaikos and would be followed to the Keepmoat Stadium by Bagayoko and Bamogo. Bagayoko, 32, has enjoyed spells with a number of French football's leading clubs including Nantes and Nice, and has 11 goals in 15 appearances for Mali, and joins from Greek side PAS Giannina. A spell with Marseille for 29-year-old Burkina Faso international Bamogo, who has joined from another Greek side Panetolikos, means all three players boast Champions League experience.

Good pedigree

"They're good players," said Rovers boss Dean Saunders. "Damien Plessis played in the Champions League last season for Liverpool and all three of them have played at that level. They've got good pedigree. "I watched them play while I was a coach at Newcastle actually, thinking about taking them there. I went over to France and watched them, so I'd known them for quite a while and I was a bit surprised when they were available. "Mamadou Bakayoko has been a top player in France for a long time. "He's a big centre-forward - a hustling, bustling type, a bit similar to Heskey - but he's got a great goal record, a great record for his country and scored lots of goals for Nice. He's played with some good players and he'll definitely help us."
