Derby team as they cruised into the second round of the competition. Marvin Morgan bagged a first-half brace for the Shrews to set them on their way to victory.
Bury defeated
Coventry 3-1 as they poured further misery on the Championship club who were beaten in their opening game of the new season. Ryan Lowe did the damage with a brace.
Doncaster encountered no such problems as they showed their Championship class to swat aside
Tranmere 3-0 to move into the next round.
