Doncaster midfielder signs one-month deal

Oxford United have secured the loan signing of Doncaster midfielder Josh Payne on a one-month deal. The 19-year-old was released by West Ham this summer and scored on his first-team debut for Rovers against Accrington Stanley in the Carling Cup. Having already had spells with Wycombe, Cheltenham and Colchester in his career so far, the former Hammers' Under-18 captain brings a good degree of experience despite his young age. Manager Chris Wilder was delighted to have signed the player, and sees him as a key figure as they look to build on their start back in League Two. "He's a player we have known about for a while and was one we looked at in the summer," said Wilder. "He likes to get on the ball and we think he will add something in midfield for us. "I spoke about him at West Ham last week and he was highly thought of there, so he has a good pedigree and I'm sure he will do well for us."
