Doncaster boss Dave Penney has expressed his disappointment at reports that Andy Warrington is considering his future at the club.
Warrington has been advised by his agent to leave Belle Vue after being offered a new deal at the Third Division champions.
The former York star's contract was reviewed following their success this season, but the offer does not look to be favourable to Warrington.
Penney admitted the club will have no choice but to put him on the transfer list if he does submit a request to leave.
"I have spoken to Andy's agent, who confirmed that he had advised his client to ask to be put on the transfer list," Penney told the club's official website.
"Until he puts in a written transfer request we will take no action, but if he sends one in we will reluctantly put him on the transfer list.
"The club are very disappointed by these recent developments, which came as a shock."
