John McMahon believes Tranmere will avoid relegation from League One despite survival being out of their hands.
Rovers must win Saturday's home match against Bradford and hope either Crewe fail to beat Preston or Notts County suffer defeat.
"It's been a really difficult season," Rovers caretaker McMahon told Sky Sports News.
"It's been chaos off the field and also difficulties on the pitch, with injuries etc. But we are what we are and we'll give it a right good go.
"When we evaluate this season, we have to go right back to the start of the season not just from the last two or three months.
"We are aware what difficulties we face, where we need to improve and hopefully we can get a positive result on Saturday and address them.
"We've got some fabulous staff here, although they are very few, but some really, really good staff, so we'll do the best we can.
"The players do. They respond in the training sessions the take things on board, so that keeps driving me on and it's always a pleasure to come into work.
"I'm still full of confidence and belief that come Saturday at five o'clock that we'll retain our League 1 status."
