Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore felt his side would have beaten Wolves was it not for James Wallace's red card.
Relegation-threatened Rovers held the automatic promotion hopefuls to a 1-1 draw at Prenton Park.
A David Edwards volley early in the second half cancelled out Ryan Lowe's 34th-minute opener for the hosts to earn Wanderers a share of the points.
Both sides also finished the game with 10 men as Richard Stearman saw red for pulling Lowe down just outside the area while Tranmere skipper Wallace was sent off after fouling Ethan Ebanks-Landell a minute before half-time.
Moore said: "To get a point is fantastic for us and if James Wallace hadn't of been sent off I believe we would have won the game.
"It's a result that puts us in the right direction.
"We started nice and bright and we bossed the midfield in the early stages.
"I don't know if James should have gone for that challenge, I will need to look at it again.
"But we had a great chance to beat a top side in this division and we have thrown it away really.
"In the end we were hanging on a bit but I am pleased with the effort and commitment that we put in overall. If we keep showing that effort and commitment then the crowd will always be behind us.
"But now we will look at trying to strengthen during the transfer window and see if we can bring some bodies in."
