Tranmere goalkeeper Jason Mooney has signed a new one-year deal to stay at Prenton Park.

The 24-year old, who made his only appearance for Rovers last season in the final game against Bournemouth, joined the club from Wycombe last summer. "Jason has really progressed over the last 12 months and I'm pleased he will be staying with us," manager Ronnie Moore told the club's official website. "He has had to be really patient and watched a lot of games from the substitutes' bench, but when he got his chance against Bournemouth he showed everyone what he is capable of." Moore added: "Hopefully Jason signing is just the start of things. "We've been talking to a lot of players and agents over the last couple of months and with pre-season training not far away I expect clubs and players will start making decisions and there will be a lot more activity."
