Rochdale winger Joe Thompson could be ready to move abroad on a free transfer, Sky Sports understands.
Thompson is out of contract at Spotland, but he is under 24 which means he cannot simply leave on a free transfer.
He has been the subject of bids from League One side Tranmere Rovers, but Rochdale have shunned their approaches.
Now Sky Sports understands that Thompson is considering his future, which could mean a move abroad.
It is believed clubs from both Scotland and Denmark are keen on Thompson, who has played over 150 games for Rochdale after coming through the youth ranks with the club.
