Tranmere midfielder Andy Robinson wants to break through the 40-game barrier next season after securing a new deal at Prenton Park.

An injury-interrupted campaign this term did not stop the 32-year-old playmaker earning an extension of one year on his contract with the option of a further year. "It's always that uncertain time of year where players are out of contract," Robinson told Tranmere Player. "The gaffer offered me the contract early doors and I'm glad it has been signed now. "We can look back at last year as ifs, buts and maybes, but we weren't a million miles away from being a successful team. I'm hoping we can kick on and have a successful season. "I think the season went well for me. I started well and I was playing week in, week out and we got a lot of points in that time. I got a few niggly injuries which put me back in the middle of the season, but I came back strong. "I feel as fit and as strong as I ever have done. I'll be doing a lot of work in the summer to get in the best shape I can. I want to play 40 games next year. If I do that I'll be happy."
