Mixed emotions for Parry

Image: Parry: Poorest performance of the season

Tranmere boss Les Parry says his side played their worst game of the season despite defeating Wycombe 2-0 to end a run of defeats.

It took Rovers just nine minutes to take the lead in Saturday's League One clash at Prenton Park, Enoch Showunmi firing home from close range after a headed pass from Lucas Akins. Openings were few and far between but Tranmere did double their lead in the 60th minute when Ash Taylor powerfully header home a corner from the impressive John Welsh. Afterwards, Parry said: "I thought that was our poorest performance of the season yet we have won 2-0. But I'd rather have it that way than play really well as we did at Huddersfield recently and got nothing. "The players are confident and are setting themselves targets, which is a good thing. But we weren't fluent. The players did not look as if they were enjoying themselves. "We needed the second goal and I was glad Ash Taylor got it. He had a great game. I told him beforehand I was considering bringing in a loan player to take his place."
