Southampton have allowed Lee Molyneux to leave the club after cancelling his contract by mutual consent.

Remaining 12 months of defender's contract are cancelled

Southampton have allowed Lee Molyneux to leave the club after cancelling his contract by mutual consent. Molyneux joined Saints in January 2009 from Everton and he had a further 12 months to run on his contract at St Mary's. However, the left-back was been unable to make an impression on Saints boss Alan Pardew and has been released by the League One club. The 21-year-old made just four appearances during his time on the South Coast and has not played a first-team game since being sent off against Swansea City soon after joining the club. He had a stint on loan at Port Vale towards the end of last season, but failed to make an appearance for the League Two club. The recent capture of Ryan Dickson has merely added to the competition for the left-back spot and Molyneux is now on the look-out for a new club.
