Man City defender makes loan move

Manchester City defender Clayton McDonald has joined Walsall on a one-month loan deal. The giant centre-back has come through the ranks at Eastlands and also enjoyed loan spells with Macclesfield and Chesterfield. He is still some way from breaking into Mark Hughes' Man City side and has been sent out again for more regular football. The 20-year-old will stay with Chris Hutchings' side until the start of October and could make his debut in Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash against Bury. "I can't wait to get started," McDonald told the League One club's official website. "I'm really buzzing and want to show people what I can do. "I jumped at the chance of coming here; it is an opportunity for me to gain valuable experience and really push on. There are some good lads here and I can only learn from them." McDonald, whose father Rodney played for Walsall, added: "Hopefully I will do as well as my dad. He is absolutely delighted for me."
