Midfielder makes Norwich switch

Norwich boss Bryan Gunn has completed his first signing of the summer by landing Matt Gill from Exeter. The midfielder moves to Carrow Road on a free transfer with his Grecians contract due to expire at the end of the month. Gill, 29, has agreed a two-year contract with the Canaries and put pen to paper after completing a medical with the East Anglia outfit. Gill spent three years at St James' Park and was recently named the Grecians' player of the season after helping them to a second successive promotion to League One.

Interest

Gunn admitted that a number of clubs were keen to sign the midfielder and has promised to bring more new faces to Carrow Road. He told the club's official website: "It was important to get the deal done quickly as there was a number of other clubs showing a lot of interest in Matthew and he had also been offered a new contract at Exeter as well. "We're delighted that he accepted our offer of a contract and we're hopeful he will be the first of many. "We are working very hard behind the scenes and we hope to introduce a number of players before we start pre-season training on July 1."
