Tudor retries; Tranmere loan struck

Port Vale winger Shane Tudor has retired from professional football. The former Wolves, Cambridge and Leyton Orient man has been forced to hang up his boots after suffering a bad knee injury. 26-year-old Tudor is already looking to the future and admits he is planning to move into coaching, although he will look to play non-league football. "I have had a long standing injury and it has got the better of me unfortunately, in terms of playing full time, coming in to training every day and playing for Port Vale," he said. "I am sad and disappointed, in fact I am devastated, but I haven't got time to feel sorry for myself. Life goes on and I am sure there will be plenty of times in years to come when I will look back, and hopefully one day it will make me a better manager and a better person. "I will be doing some coaching and would like to stay in the game because football is my life. Hopefully the experience I have had here will help me. "I'm not going to be playing again for the foreseeable future, certainly not within the next two months, so in the interests of the club it was thought it would be best if I retire from league football. "On the other hand, I still want to be playing at Conference level and hopefully next year I can help a team get promoted and then I would have to find another club - that's the dream. "I will keep working hard and taking my coaching badges, and I am desperate to be a manager. I want to get involved perhaps at youth level or as a manager. I have got to do my grounding, but I have had some fantastic managers over the years and I have soaked up a lot of their knowledge and experiences. "It is one of my targets to come back here and manage the club and take them to the Championship and see those seats that have never been filled, the concrete blocks and bricks where there are no seats to be filled. It annoys me, because this club deserves better."

Loan deal

Meanwhile, Vale have sealed a loan deal for Tranmere's Adnan Ahmed. The Pakistan international will arrive at Vale Park on loan for a month after he impressed during a trial spell. "We took a look at him at close quarters last week and feel he can do a job for us. He is a good footballer, but unfortunately he hasn't been getting in at Tranmere," manager Dean Glover said "We feel he can do a job for us. We are always looking to improve our game and having seen him in training we have decided to take it a step further."
