Midfielder frustrated at being in and out of the team

Jason Koumas has revealed his frustration at being in and out of the Wigan Athletic team this season. The Welsh midfielder started Saturday's 2-1 win at Portsmouth having appeared as a substitute in the Latics' previous four Premier League matches. The Fratton Park victory was just Koumas' third start in the league this season compared to his six outings form the bench. Koumas admits it has been difficult not playing on a regular basis and hopes his display at Pompey will boost his chances of establishing himself in Steve Bruce's side.

Run of games

"It's hard being in and out of the team," Koumas told the Wigan Evening Post. "It was nice to start against Portsmouth and to play the full game. You need minutes on the pitch to get some form under your belt. "It has been frustrating. It was good to be out there at Portsmouth and hopefully I will get a few more minutes on the pitch to get a bit of form. "It is hard to find that form if you are in and out of the side. What I need is a run of games."
