Tranmere complete their first piece of summer business

Tranmere have made versatile Australian Gareth Edds their first signing of the summer. The 27-year-old joins from recently-promoted MK Dons, ending a four-year association with Paul Ince's men. Edds, who is equally at home in defence or midfield, began his career in England with Nottingham Forest, before taking in spells at Bradford and Swindon. Rovers boss Ronnie Moore has expressed his pleasure at having secured the signature of a man who had become a firm fans' favourite at stadium:mk.

Quality

"I'm delighted to have signed Gareth," he said. "He's as comfortable at right-back as he is in midfield, so his versatility will be very useful. "Last season we missed having a box-to-box midfielder and Gareth will provide that. "He is a hard working, quality player who is a good signing for the club and I look forward to working with him."
