Tranmere Rovers have agreed deals for Gareth Taylor and Shane Cansdell-Sheriff.

Taylor, who was available on a free transfer after leaving Nottingham Forest, shunned a number of offers - including one from Crewe where he spent part of last season on loan - to accept the approach from Rovers.

Australian Cansdell-Sheriff has also agreed a move from Danish outfit Aarhus.

The 23-year-old began his career with Leeds before moving to Scandinavia, but he is now set to return to English football.

"Gareth is a great signing for the club," said Rovers boss Ronnie Moore.

"He knows how to lead the line and is a handful.

"He has played at the top level and will be a leader on the park for us. He is a great lad and will be good to have around the club."

On Cansdell-Sheriff, he added: "Shane has been playing at a good level of football in Denmark and is a strong defender.

"He is good on the ball and capable of playing in the centre of defence or left back and is another excellent signing for Tranmere."
