Rochdale have completed the permanent signing of Tranmere striker Chris Dagnall.

The 19-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Spotland, where he replaces top scorer Grant Holt, who moved to Nottingham Forest last week.

Dale boss Steve Parkin moved quickly to bring in Dagnall from Prenton Park, initially arranging a loan deal so he could make his debut in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Stockport.

The League Two club will pay an initial £25,000, with Tranmere due to receive a further £15,000 depending on appearances, while there is also a sell-on clause included in the deal.
