TRANMERE ROVERS are plotting for a promotion push next term by releasing four players and discussing contract extensions with a trio of first-team members.

Stuart Barlow, Richard Hinds, Andy Parkinson (pictured) and Andy Robinson are the quartet departing Prenton Park but John Achterbreg, Graham Allen and Jason Price have the opportunity to stay on the Wirral.

Veteran striker Barlow's three-year stay with Rovers is being brought to an end while the long-serving Parkinson must also bid farewell.

Defender Hinds has struggled to nail down a regular starting place while forward Robinson has made just one appearance for the club since signing a short-term contract from Cammell Lairds earlier in the season.

Dutch goalkeeper Achterberg is in negotiations regarding a stay with the club, who narrowly missed out on a play-off berth this season.

The 26-year-old duo Allen and Price are also talking over extending their respective stints with Rovers.
