Buddle out to impress Curle

Carlisle defender Nathan Buddle is out to convince boss Keith Curle he is worth a long-term deal at the club.

Buddle, 21, agreed a short-team contract this week following an extended trial period at the end of last season and has until Christmas to prove his worth. "From my point of view I don't think he could have given me a better contract," Buddle told the club's official website. "I'm not the type to get lazy but when people get a two-year contract they can take their foot off the gas. "I'm always going to be on my toes because I know that come Christmas the gaffer can say whether he wants me or not. "I'm going to make sure I'm going in every day and proving a point so I do get a new deal." The former Hartlepool centre-half made three appearances for the Cumbrians late last season after arriving from Blyth Spartans.
