Exeter manager Paul Tisdale was happy to keep the momentum going following his side's routine 2-0 win over struggling Carlisle.

After a dour first half, Exeter improved after the break and opened the scoring when Grimes teed up Scot Bennett to curl a fine finish into the bottom corner just before the hour mark. The Grecians continued to dominate and Grimes sealed the win with his first goal for the club from open play to further enhance his growing reputation. "All in all I am very pleased. It was a patient and proper performance, we were very solid," he said. "The biggest problem for us was playing into the sun! We did a really good job. "We have to play our way and in a way that suits the players. The team is evolving and has gradually developed. We have to go with what we are good at, we are what we are. "We made changes to the front third of the pitch, but we couldn't quite get the ball in the right positions. It didn't work for us. "I could see after about five or 10 minutes what it was I wanted to do to change things, but we got through to half time and had a proper chat about it and I think we did a good job in the end. "Of course, it would have been different if they had taken one of their half chances, James Hamon made an important save, but we built the performance and had the right players in the right place in the second half. I am very pleased." Disappointed Carlisle manager Keith Curle said: "We came with a game plan. It was important that we stuck to our jobs, be organised and disciplined and the first 45 minutes everything was going to plan. "We knew they would get possession of the ball but they weren't hurting us. "We were then hoping to catch them on break and we had the better of the half chances in the first half. We were wary of a lapse in concentration and from their first clear cut chance and the lad stuck it away which is disappointing "There are still things we need to work on. We had good shape, good organisation, good discipline. But I still think we didn't use the ball well enough when we did win it back. You have got to be realistic though. "Paul Tisdale was telling me that he has had nine years to put together a football team and every player in this club is here by his choice and that is the difference."
