Abbott: We were worthy of point

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott claimed his side deserved their point after salvaging a 1-1 draw at bottom club Bury.

The Cumbrians appeared to be heading for a fourth defeat in their last five matches in all competitions before Watford striker Garner poked home a last-gasp equaliser to keep Bury rooted to the bottom of the table. "It was a game of immense excitement because of the tempo," Abbott said after the game. "There are not many sides who will play as quick a game as Bury did in the first half. We did say at half-time we would be staggered if they could keep it going and we rocked them back a bit in the second half. "We deserved the point and it's a big point because Bury will win games. They'll win games because they're fighting for their lives and playing with intensity. "It wasn't pretty at times, but it was exciting. There was some poor football at times, some edgy football at times, some good football at times, but some exciting stuff nevertheless. "We go away from here having earned a point because they put us under a lot of pressure with their intensity. We're not overjoyed because we wanted to come here and win, but on reflection the game has been even and both teams will be happy to go away with a point."
