Warnock says deal must be right for his club

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has confirmed striker Billy Paynter has spoken to a 'few clubs' regarding a transfer. Paynter was placed on the transfer list by Warnock at the end of last season and he has scored just three goals in 27 league appearances since his 2010 move from Swindon Town. The 28-year-old had a spell on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion last term and was not involved in Leeds' recent pre-season games against Tavistock and Bodmin. He also left the squad ahead of the friendly against Torquay United to discuss a possible move away from Elland Road and Warnock is waiting to receive a suitable offer. "Billy's talked to a few clubs," Warnock told the club's official website. "There's a number after him but it's got to be right for us." Doncaster Rovers were strongly linked with a bid for Paynter last week, with manager Dean Saunders close to improving his own squad. However, reports on Monday claimed that Leeds' Championship rivals Blackpool were on the brink of finalising a deal for Paynter.
