Dickov: I rushed Bouzanis deal

Oldham boss Paul Dickov rushed through the signing of goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis after coach Paul Gerrard suffered an injury.

Former Everton stopper Gerrard, who was forced into action when regular number one Alex Cisak was sent off against Bury earlier this month, acts as goalkeeping cover at Boundary Park. However, the veteran's arm muscle problem forced Dickov to recruit Bouzanis, 20, on non-contract terms so he could take a place on the bench at Dean Court ahead of the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth . The 20-year-old Australian spent four-and-a-half years on Liverpool's books and recently played two reserve games during a trial period with Oldham. "Dean is a talented boy and has signed non-contract forms," Dickov told Oldham's official website. "Paul Gerrard has come in and done ever so well, but he is struggling as he has pulled a muscle in his arm and Dean gives us cover."
