Skipper Paul Thirlwell fully supports Carlisle's plans to move to a new stadium, saying it will definitely benefit the club.
The Cumbrians announced last week their intention to leave Brunton Park, their home for 102 years, and move to a new 12,000-seater stadium at a site in Kingmoor in the north of the city. Thirlwell told the News & Star: "Everything is geared towards us being bigger and better and we have to do our part on the pitch to get the club to where it wants to go." He added: "We've seen when clubs move to a new stadium, it creates more revenue which gives more opportunity to progress on the pitch. "Unless you're in a position where you have a really wealthy owner who is willing just to plough money into the club without any worry about recouping it, I think the club always has to look at different ways to move the club forward and make some money." A feasibility study found that the club's current site was a costly and unsuitable option for redevelopment, while funding for the new venue and surrounding buildings would come from a development partner.
