Carlisle striker Paddy Madden was "gutted" after his second touch against Leyton Orient almost delivered three points.
Madden, who came off the bench with 15 minutes to play at Brisbane Road, saw his shot bounce back off the crossbar.
He said: "With that one, Craig [Curran] did really well and managed to roll it across to me.
"There was a bit of space in front of me so I decided to have a go, and I knew when I hit it that I'd caught it really well. It looked like it was going in and I was ready to celebrate.
"I'm not sure what I would have done to be honest, but I was gutted anyway when it came back down off the bar and bounced away. That's just the way it goes and if we keep creating our chances then goals will come our way."
Madden felt the game had been there for the taking, and added: "It was a good game to watch but I was hoping that I would get involved. The lads played really well to get on top and Orient were finding it difficult to deal with us. We're disappointed that we didn't get the three points but we can be happy with the draw."
