Simek fumes over penalty call

Carlisle skipper Frank Simek was left fuming after being booked for diving in the goalless draw with Brighton.

Simek was shown a yellow card in the 36th minute after being sent tumbling in the box in a game the Cumbrians dominated early on before running out of ideas and letting Brighton back into it, especially late in the second period. Simek said: "I felt it was a penalty. I was going full pelt and if you're pushed you expect it to be given. But the referee gave it their way and booked me!" There was support for the defender from manager Greg Abbott, who added: "I've never seen Frank angry before, he's normally such a calm guy. "He resented the suggestion that he dived. He's the most honest individual you can work with. He thought he had won a penalty." Abbott blasted the performance of the referee. "The referee turned up at the right ground and that was his first correct decision. He was awful."
